Our Story
David E. Hohenshilt started a small welding company in March of 1971. Originally, it was operated as one of the Lehigh Valley areas first mobile welding services. Later, the business evolved into a steel fabricating and erecting company.
In 1990, the business purchased its first mobile hydraulic truck crane to accommodate the growing steel erecting demand in the Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, and the surrounding Lehigh Valley area. The crane was a 15-ton JLG™ crane purchased to do a steel erecting job. After that job was completed, we noticed the trend was for businesses to rent the cranes they used for completing their jobs. The next logical step was for us to rent our crane to them.
As the business grew, we purchased a second crane to meet the needs of our customers. In 1997, David E. Hohenshilt, Inc. was created as the crane rental business was growing.
